Sunday Salon

Please join us at the library for a live Zoom meeting with author Martin Bodek, who will discuss his moving book, Zaidy’s War: Four Armies, Three Continents, Two Brothers, One Man’s Impossible Story of Endurance.

In this remarkable family memoir, Bodek brings to life the story of his grandfather, Benzion Malik—known to his grandchildren as Zaidy. Born in Romania, Benzion endured the upheaval of World War II and the Holocaust, serving in four armies across three continents before rebuilding a life of family, faith, learning, and generosity.

Martin Bodek is an author and speaker whose work combines Jewish history, memory, humor, and family storytelling. Zaidy’s War, his deeply personal account of his grandfather’s extraordinary journey, has inspired book clubs, libraries, podcasts, and Zoom audiences throughout the United States and abroad.

This program reflects the purpose of our ongoing From Roots to Story class: to move beyond names and dates and discover the lives, choices, places, historical events, and values that shaped our ancestors. Martin’s presentation offers a powerful example of how one family’s memories can be preserved, researched, and transformed into a lasting story for future generations.

Admission is free. Seating is limited. Please RSVP in advance. RSVP to Etta Gold, Egold@tbam.org

Presented by Sunday Salon, Temple Beth Am Adult Library, and the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Miami.
